Power of attorney
A power of attorney lets someone act for you or your company, for example to sign incorporation documents while you are abroad.
Types
- Special POA for a defined task, such as incorporating a company or opening a bank account
- General POA for broad management powers
Signing in the UAE
Signed before a notary public, in person or through approved remote notarisation.
Signing abroad
Notarised locally, legalised or apostilled in that country, attested by the UAE embassy and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then translated into Arabic. See Document attestation.
Common questions
Will banks accept a POA to open an account?
Banks usually want to meet the owners and signatories directly. A POA helps with incorporation more than banking.
